BRANCH PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

I hope your summer was relaxing and you’re ready for a new year of teaching with many student opportunities and festivals along with many inspiring teachers’ meetings and programs. Plan to come to our September 9th Information Meeting for the overview of all programs for the year. Be sure to stay for refreshments afterwards!

You will receive a directory at our September meeting. This year it will contain the calendar for the year as well as teachers’ contact information. Thank you, Judy, for all your hard work in putting together the directory.

The calendar is also available on our website: pv-vcmtac.org, thanks to Niccole Modell. Niccole Modell has been serving us well in keeping our website up to date. Be sure to cruise through it and see what it is all about.

We will have a new BRANCH PICTURE taken at 10:00am at the beginning of the general meeting. We would love to have all of you in this picture!

Our first festival is the Holiday Festival with the theme “Sounds of Nature”.  This is a great festival and theme for even our beginning level students. I hope you will enter some students—it’s a very rewarding program.

A special thank you to Judy, from all of us, for being such a patient, kind, organized, and all around fantastic president the last two years. I look forward to serving as your president this term. Our branch is full of talented, hardworking, and dedicated volunteers and teachers and I am very grateful to be a part of such an amazing branch.

~Nicole

CM NEWS from Beverly

I am sure you all realize by now that there is a new MTAC Database; I have been passing out brochures at meetings for a few months now. I will bring them again to the September meeting.  You will need to give them to your student’s parents as they will be more involved on the new Database system.

You have already received an email from the State office explaining how to begin by migrating your students. You can start that at any time.  We will be giving you much more information at the October 7, meeting, which will be covering everything new about the CM Database.

As in past years, if you have one to nine students you will work one full day. If you have ten or more students you will work two full days. There will be a $300 fine for not working on CM day. Save the dates now so that you will be ready to work. CM dates are Saturday, February 25, for piano and strings and March 4, for piano.  I have not heard about the woodwinds date as of yet.

Best of luck to all of you great CM Teachers.  It will be a challenge this year, but I hope to be able to answer all of your questions about the new Database.

NEW IN 2017: CM BRANCH HONORS RECITAL

On Saturday, March 25, 2017,  the PV-VC branch will celebrate its students with the highest scores attained through Certificate of Merit with a series of CM Branch Honors Recitals.  Performance evaluations and theory exam scores will be used from Level 1- Panel to select the top 60 students.  Students who qualify will be notified of their eligibility by their teacher and there will be no fee for participation.  Works to be performed will be five minutes or under, making cuts where appropriate, and will be selected by the CM performance evaluation judge.  Caitlyn Boruch will be in chairing this exciting new program.
