Important Dates for November

November 1 Saturday, CM fees must be postmarked and mailed to Beverly.

November 14 - Friday,  Board Meeting

November 15 - Saturday, Holiday Festival, FUMC in Ventura.

November Meeting

 When: Friday, November 14

Program: Board meeting only.  All members are welcome to attend.

Where: Home of Nicole Burns.  Contact Nicole at 444-1916 for directions.

Greetings from our President

Gail Lew’s new materials program in October was well-attended.  Gail explored a lot of new pieces with us—performing a lot of them & even playing duets with our own Fern Fay.  Thank you, Bev, for         hosting.

Holiday Festival is fast approaching, hope all your students are prepared!  Nicole Burns had some fast-stepping to do already to keep everything running smoothly—you’re a treasure, Nicole.

Then, of course, there is Certificate of Merit.  It is so hard to compete with sports and school             activities.  By the time the students are in high school, it can be hard to even get their attention.  Beverly has taken on the job as CM chair, and we are very grateful to have her in charge again.

Thinking of You:  Cards have been sent to Shirley Tat, who has been very sick, and to Maria Arce, whose husband has been very sick & is now recuperating at home.  We send our best wishes.

Berthold Auerbach:  “Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”

CM News from Beverly

The data base will be open for Certificate of Merit Registration from October 1 through October 31. There will be NO late registration. Your fees with a student print out form are due to me no later than November 1. Make out one check only to PV-VC MTAC.

If you are having difficulty finding the fee schedule go on the state website and log in and go to Resources and then to Documents, and then you will see the CM fee schedule for all instruments and levels. Be sure to add the branch sir charge of $10.00 per student.

Be sure to double check your registration for each student that you have the correct spelling of their name, instrument, school grade, CM level, and date of birth. Double check with the parent about the date of birth. Once the student is registered this becomes a permanent record.

Theory practice tests are now available online at the MTAC store.

I will be sending information to you in every newsletter and also emails. There will be many CM updates in the coming months. Please send me an email if you have a question that you cannot find the answer to, or a call if we need to talk.
